Naturalization after five years residence
Foreigners who have resided in Tonga for five years or more may, with the consent of the King, take the oath of allegiance and receive a certificate of naturalization. Language, character, and permanent settlement intent apply under the Nationality Act framework. Grant is highly discretionary.
