Citizenship at birth through a Tajik parent
Birth to a Tajik parent creates nationality. Birth in Tajikistan alone to foreign parents is not unrestricted jus soli; territorial rules cover foundlings and otherwise-stateless children.

A child at least one of whose parents is a Tajik citizen is a citizen (jus sanguinis), regardless of birthplace, with conditions for some children born abroad to one citizen parent.
Ordinary naturalization requires about five years of permanent residence plus basic Tajik-language knowledge; grant is discretionary. Renunciation of prior nationality is generally required except where the Russia treaty applies.
