An adult foreigner with permanent residence may request admission to Serbian citizenship subject to release or qualifying assurance regarding former citizenship and a declaration that Serbia is their state.
A child born or found in Serbia acquires citizenship where both parents are unknown, of unknown citizenship or stateless, or where the child would otherwise be stateless.
Serbian citizenship is acquired by descent under the parentage and, for some foreign-born children, registration conditions in the Citizenship Act.
A spouse of at least three years who holds permanent residence may naturalize, with no separate residence-year count.
