Naturalization after long permanent residence

Adults of full capacity may apply after long permanent residence (commonly framed as about seven to ten years under the Citizenship Act and later amendments), language and character requirements, and intention to remain. Naturalizers generally renounce prior nationality. Grant is discretionary.
