Nationality by birth in Chile

Persons born in Chilean territory are Chilean by birth, except children of transient foreigners or of foreigners who are in Chile in the service of their government. Statelessness safeguards and later option routes may apply to some excluded children.

Carta de Nacionalización after permanent residence

Adult permanent residents may seek a letter of naturalization after five or more years of residence counted from the electronic stamp that led to permanent residence. A reduced two-year continuous residence path applies for specified family ties to Chileans, including a two-year marriage registered in Chile with shared household.
