Persons born in Chilean territory are Chilean by birth, except children of transient foreigners or of foreigners who are in Chile in the service of their government. Statelessness safeguards and later option routes may apply to some excluded children.
A spouse of a Chilean may naturalize after about two years (vs five), with roughly two years of marriage and cohabitation.

Children of a Chilean father or mother born abroad, and further generations covered by Article 10, may hold or claim Chilean nationality under the constitutional descent rules, including where a parent or grandparent acquired nationality by birth or naturalization as applicable.

Adult permanent residents may seek a letter of naturalization after five or more years of residence counted from the electronic stamp that led to permanent residence. A reduced two-year continuous residence path applies for specified family ties to Chileans, including a two-year marriage registered in Chile with shared household.
