Naturalization as the spouse of a citizen

A spouse of an Austrian has a legal entitlement to naturalize after six years of residence and five years of marriage in a common household, instead of ten.

Naturalization after ten years residence

Ordinary naturalization generally needs ten years continuous legal residence (including at least five with a settlement permit), German language, civic knowledge, livelihood, and usually renunciation of prior nationality. Shorter paths exist for EEA citizens and other statutory categories. Grant is discretionary.
